Govt taking steps to protect common man from impact of inflation: PM

Islamabad: Feb 02, 2022 (TNS): Prime Minister Imran Khan has said government is taking steps to protect the common man from the impact of inflation.

Talking to a delegation of prominent industrialists and businessmen in Islamabad today [Wednesday], he asked them to work with the government for providing relief to the common man.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had included IT and textile export policy in its party manifesto even before it came in to power, its fruits are now clearly visible.

He said due to business-friendly policies of the government, the country’s ten largest companies earned a profit of 929 billion rupees last year.

He said government has taken historic steps to promote investment and business in the country.

Imran Khan said exports of the textile sector reached a record high of 21 billion dollars and it is expected that it will expand to 26 billion dollars next year.

He said Pakistan has become the world’s fourth largest motorcycle manufacturer. He said tractors’ export have increased by ten percent.

He said along with the sectors of IT and textile focus should also be on defense production and engineering sectors.

The Prime Minister said during his visit to China, government will discuss enhancing ties between Pakistani and Chinese industrialists and setting up joint ventures.

Speaking on the occasion, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said there are vast opportunities in the defense manufacturing sector that can be benefitted through public-private partnership.
