Pakistani team’s training camp for the Test series against Sri Lanka begins in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Jun 26, 2022 (TNS): A training camp of Pakistan cricket team’s for the tour of Sri Lanka has started in Rawalpindi.On Sunday, the players practiced hard in the scorching heat of 42 degrees Celsius from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Captain Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafiq, Fahim Ashraf, Muhammad Nawaz, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hassan Ali, Naseem Shah Haris Rauf, Yasir Shah and Noman Ali were among the players who reported for training camp at Pindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi. Middle Order Better Fawad Alam will join the training camp on June 27.Vice-captains Mohammad Rizwan, Azhar Ali and Shaun Masood, who are busy in UK for playing county cricket, are not attending the training camp and will join the national squad in Lahore before departure to Sri Lanka.

The first 2-day warm-up match will start at 9 am on Monday, the second day the players will take advantage of the match practice till 6 pm, June 29 will be a day of rest, the next day the first day of the second warm-up match will start at 9 am. The second day of the match will be on July 1. Spin tracks have been specially prepared at Pindi Stadium keeping in view the Sri Lankan conditions. Remember that in the Test series against Australia, Rawalpindi’s pitch proved to be a paradise for the batsmen. With Babar Azam’s marathon innings in Karachi and Abdullah Shafiq’s resistance, Pakistan averted a sure victory against Australia.

In Lahore, the visiting team came under tremendous pressure on the last day to win. In this series, Pakistan’s middle order failed to show steadfastness in difficult times.During the 7-day camp in Rawalpindi, head coach Saqleen Mushtaq will try to overcome this problem with the help of batting coach Mohammad Yousuf.

Abid finished with 109 not out and Babar Azam was unbeaten on 102 as Pakistan scored 252-2 in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 308-6 declared.Test cricket started in 1876.
