ISLAMABAD JULY 31 (TNS): “The cabinet will be decided by top party leadership but I will be involved in consultation,” the PML-N leader and candidate for interim premiership, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Monday.

Abbasi taking aim at his political opponents said no amount of petitions filed against him would bear any fruit. “I’ve been part of the assembly for 30 years and have given details of my assets 20 to 22 times.

It has just become a tradition now to file all kinds of useless petitions,” he said.

“Anyone who has any doubts over my assets is welcome to file a petition. I will give answers myself, without any lawyer,” Abbasi remarked.

He added that his party’s leader [Nawaz Sharif] has always given lesson of politeness. “It is up to the public if they want to trust the language of the [commercial politicians] or ours,” he said.

Abbasi submitted his nomination papers for becoming the next prime minister at the National Assembly Secretariat on Monday.

Talking to the media afterwards, Abbasi said the government’s policy [before Nawaz Sharif’s dismissal by the Supreme Court on Friday] on all matters will continue.

He claimed that the PML-N will win the premiership vote [tomorrow] with a majority.

Nawaz Sharif, who was disqualified by the Supreme Court from holding any public office in the landmark Panama Papers verdict on Friday, named former petroleum minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the prime minister until his younger brother and current chief minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif, is elected to a National Assembly seat and subsequently made the prime minister.
