The West Asia Baseball Cup 2023 started in Islamabad, Indian baseball team reached Pakistan one day late. Pakistan and Sri Lanka won their matches on the first day of the tournament, while Palestine was declared the winner without a game due to the non-arrival of the Indian team.
In the opening match of the tournament at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Friday, the host team Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by a score of 17-0, while in the second match, the defending champions Sri Lanka defeated Nepal by 26-0. The third match was to be played between India and Palestine, in which the Palestinian team was declared the winner without playing due to the non-arrival of the Indian team.
On the other hand, the Indian government issued NOC to the Indian baseball team to enter Pakistan to participate in the West Asia Baseball Cup and the Indian team reached Pakistan. Today, on the second day of the tournament, 3 matches will be played. The first match will be between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the second match will be between Nepal and Palestine, and the third match will be played between India and Sri Lanka. The final of the tournament will be played on February 1.
