ISLAMABAD, March 14 – Renowned writer Anwar Maqsood on Thursday denied rumours about being picked up and tortured, calling it a sheer propaganda.

The 84-year-old television presenter, actor and satirist said false information was spread about him on social media.

“What you are hearing has not happened at all and will not happen,” he said in a video message to the general public.

Maqsood said the rumours over the past few days had made his life hell and he received calls from every country and cities where people wanted to know about his well-being.

“I am all good and for the last 66 years, I have been writing and speaking for my people,” he said.

He said he loved his soldiers who were sacrificing their lives while securing the borders and the people of the homeland.

Anwar Maqsood said he was not giving this statement on the behest of anyone.

“I am speaking this from my heart,” he said.

Showing his cellular phone to the screen, he said it even did not have a phone camera and therefore, using social media was out of question.

He pointed out that around 42 fake social media accounts were running in his name.

Anwar Maqsood expressed resolve that he would continue to work for Pakistan and for his people.

“Long live Pakistan,” he concluded his video message. —-
