Credit of PML-N’s success in the by-elections goes to C.M. Maryam Nawaz_ ……
The success of PML-N in by-elections in Punjab is attributed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s style of governance.
The results of the by-elections of 14 seats of the National and Provincial Assembly in the Pakistani province of Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League-N has achieved great success. According to the unofficial results so far, Pakistan Muslim League-N has won both the National Assembly and 10 of the 12 seats of the Provincial Assembly in Punjab.
On the other hand, not only this but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf faced defeat in its own vacated seat in Wazirabad and here too Adnan Afzal Chatta of PML-N won.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has also been defeated by his nephew Musa Elahi from Gujarat for the provincial assembly seat. Remember that in the 2024 general elections in Pakistan, candidates of many political parties won more than one seat, especially the leaders of major political parties won seats in national and provincial assemblies from different cities. After the general elections, the newly elected member legally has to hold one seat from more than one seat, while the Election Commission is bound to hold by-elections within 60 days for the vacant seats. Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shehbaz Sharif won the most seats in the recent general elections and won four seats in the National and Provincial Assembly. Shehbaz Sharif had won NA 123, NA 132, Kasur Lahore provincial constituencies PP 158 and PP 164.
The President of Istehkam Pakistan Party, Aleem Khan, retained the seat of NA-117 after the victory, while he left the seat of PP-149. Hamza Shehbaz had decided to take oath as MNA from NA-118 while leaving the seat of PP-147.

The NA-119 seat was vacated by Maryam Nawaz, who was successfully elected as Punjab Chief Minister from PP-159 constituency of Lahore. PML-N chief Ghulam Abbas became MNA from NA-53 while the seat was left vacant after being elected from PP-22. PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal was elected from National Assembly Constituency 76 and PP-54. PML-N leader Rana Tanveer also decided to take oath on the National Assembly seat from Sheikhupura, he had also left the Provincial Assembly seat. From Dera Ghazi Khan, PML-N leader Owais Khan Laghari was elected as member of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly from NA-186. He also did not take the oath of the member of the Punjab Assembly and decided to leave the seat of the provincial assembly. Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto participated in the election from three National Assembly seats. He lost in NA 127 from Lahore, while he won two National Assembly seats from Sindh, one of which was vacated. National Assembly member Dr. Ezra Plaju, who was elected from two seats of People’s Party from Sindh, left one seat. Chaudhry Salik Hussain retained the seat of the National Assembly from Gujarat and left the seat of the Provincial Assembly.
Riyaz Fatiana, supported by PTI, also elected from NA 107 and decided to take oath as member of National Assembly while leaving the seat of Provincial Assembly. PTI-supported Ali Amin Gandapur vacated the National Assembly seat from Dera Ismail Khan. Balochistan National Party’s Akhtar Mengal, who won two seats in the National and Provincial Assembly, also left the Balochistan Assembly seat. By-elections were held on the eight seats vacated by the Muslim League-N. By-elections have been held on three seats of People’s Party, two seats of PTI and one seat each of Q-League, Stability Pakistan Party and Balochistan National Party.
There were more than 12 seats across the country where the candidates participating in the election on more than one seat were successful.
After winning more than one seat, it has been a tradition for political parties to field their losing key leaders or strong candidates already in those constituencies. 6 new and 8 old faces have been elected in the by-elections in 14 constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies from Punjab. Among the first elected new faces are Ahmed Iqbal Chaudhry from Narowal, Musa Elahi from Gujarat, Malik Falak Sher from Tala Gang, Muhammad Khurram from Lahore. Nawaz Ladhar, Rashid Minhas and Adnan Afzal Chatta from Wazirabad are included while from Kasur Malik Rasheed, Ali Parvez Malik, Malik Riaz, Rana Afzal Hussain have also been elected to the National Assembly while Shoaib Siddiqui and Saeed Akbar Nawani have been elected to the Provincial Assembly. Apart from them, the two candidates from Laghari families of PML-N from Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan are also included.
That the Office of Chief Minister is Maryam Nawaz’s first political test and she will have to face many challenges during her Chief Minister ship. Regarding the success of the Muslim League-N in the by-elections, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz congratulated the winning candidates and claimed that the success of the Muslim League-N in the by-elections is a proof of the confidence of the people.
Also, the people have come to know that the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is necessary for the development of this country. That is why people have given full confidence to Muslim League-N in transparent elections. Regarding the performance of the Punjab government, it may be correct to say that it is felt for the first time that there is a government in Punjab as well.
Punjab government is trying to give better results by using the available resources in a good strategy.
The Punjab government has given the biggest Ramadan package in the history of the province. Maryam Nawaz is visiting Ramadan bazaars, jails and hospitals to assess the situation herself, issuing Kisan cards to farmers, giving scholarships to youth for higher education, providing motorcycles to students on easy installments, giving solar panels to farmers.
Steps are being taken to make model houses for the poor in all districts, to improve the sanitation system in the province and to start metro bus service in many new cities.
This is the first time in the history of Punjab province that women have been elected to important ministries.
Maryam Nawaz is the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Aurangzeb is the Senior Minister and Uzma Bukhari is the Provincial Information Minister.
Chief Minister Punjab has appointed Saima Farooq as his personal secretary. The Deputy Commissioner of Lahore is also a woman. Apart from this, women have been appointed to many important posts in the provincial government.
Moreover, the credit of PML-N’s success in the by-elections goes to Maryam Nawaz. Maryam Nawaz is successful because PML-N has a base camp in Punjab.
Now the guidance of Nawaz Sharif is also available, the Prime Minister is also Maryam’s uncle. Therefore, it is expected that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz will be more successful. Earlier Maryam Nawaz has created a new history by taking over the Chief Ministership of the largest province of Pakistan as a woman Chief Minister.
In general elections 2024, Muslim League (N) had won one hundred and 133 seats in Punjab, 23 independent members had also joined Muslim League (N), in this way, newly elected members of Muslim League (N) in Punjab Assembly. The number of members has crossed the mark of 160, which has thwarted the cunning tactics of the political opposition party.
No one can be seen far away from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Maryam Nawaz achieved a prominent position in many years and made the country proud by earning a name in various fields.
There is no doubt that she stood with the Muslim League (N) in difficult times and fought hard.
At a time when a conspiracy was being made to imprison the Muslim League-N and political opposition was not an easy task for anyone. During the Imran Khan era, she fought court proceedings and NAB cases together with his father and campaigned bravely.
At a time when even speaking was considered a crime, Maryam Nawaz’s resistance politics and aggressive speeches played an important role in bringing the Muslim League (N) activists back to the field.
Because of her politics, powerful circles started talking with PML-N. After Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz gained the most fame in PML-G. Maryam Nawaz has a unique identity because of her aggressive politics.Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, was appointed as the election campaign manager of Lahore district during the 2013 general elections.
On November 22, 2013, Maryam Nawaz was appointed as the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, but after the decision of the Lahore High Court, Maryam Nawaz resigned on November 13, 2014.
On July 6, 2018, the court sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 7 years of imprisonment and a fine, and they remained imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. Maryam Nawaz was arrested on her return from London and transferred to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and she remained in jail for 69 days, but later all her sentences were suspended.
It is said about Maryam Nawaz that she is committed to learning. She never considered herself superior.
Maryam Nawaz has practically celebrated herself in the absence of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, just as she brought the PML-N leader’s statement “Respect your vote” to the heights of popularity.
Lived in the hearts of the people, her strong political personality is the only characteristic. Maryam Nawaz was not afraid, nor bowed down, but remained firm and continued to move forward .The success of PML-N in the by-elections in Punjab is undoubtedly due to the style of government of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
