Rahim Yar Khan, Monday, 6 January 2025 (TNS): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss matters of mutual and bilateral interest.
During the meeting on Sunday, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing economic, political, and cultural relations. They held extensive discussions on a range of topics, including economic cooperation, regional stability, climate action, and advancing mutual interests on the global stage.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the UAE’s visionary leadership and acknowledged its role as a key development and investment partner for Pakistan. He emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to deepen collaboration in critical areas such as renewable energy, technology, trade, infrastructure development, and skill enhancement.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed the UAE’s strong interest in partnering with Pakistan in sectors such as mining, minerals, and agriculture. He commended the progress Pakistan has made in stabilizing its economy under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, noting that this economic momentum offers new opportunities for bilateral investment and cooperation.
The UAE President reiterated his country’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with Pakistan, emphasizing the significance of people-to-people connections and the pursuit of shared prosperity.
Prime Minister Sharif extended heartfelt gratitude to His Highness for the UAE’s consistent support during challenging times, particularly in providing humanitarian assistance and development aid. Both leaders pledged to work closely on matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed their dedication to peace, stability, and progress in the region.
The meeting concluded with a joint resolve to prioritize cooperation in key sectors, paving the way for a brighter future for both nations.
Senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, were present at the meeting.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sentiments in a post on X, stating: “Delighted to meet with my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, today in Rahimyar Khan. Reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthen Pak-UAE cooperation and elevate our ties to a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. Matters of mutual interest, including investments in Pakistan, were discussed with a resolve to move forward together.”
