ISLAMABAD (TNS) The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has said that NAB, while fulfilling its responsibilities as a national accountability institution, has been informing the public from time to time about those elements who are busy collecting money from people day and night in the name of illegal housing societies through fraud and forgery. According to a statement issued by NAB on Tuesday, NAB is currently investigating several cases of fraud and forgery against Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz and others. NAB has strong evidence that Malik Riaz and his associates have illegally occupied not only government but also private land in Karachi, Takht Padi, Rawalpindi and New Murree in the name of Bahria Town and established housing societies without permission, defrauding people of billions of rupees. Malik Riaz has illegally occupied land in several other cities, including Peshawar and Jamshoro, in the name of Bahria Town and has established housing societies without NOC in the same manner and is receiving huge amounts of money from people through fraud. Malik Riaz is currently a fugitive in the NCA case, who is wanted by both the court and NAB. NAB has already seized numerous assets of Bahria Town inside Pakistan and is going to take legal action without stopping to seize more assets. Malik Riaz, who is currently residing in Dubai as a fugitive from justice, has recently started a new project for the construction of luxury apartments there as well. The public is warned to stay away from any investment in the said project and if they do so, their act will fall under the category of money laundering for which they may face legal action. The Government of Pakistan will also immediately contact the Government of Dubai on this important matter and decide on a future course of action so that innocent people can be protected from its fraud and illegal acts.
