ISLAMABAD (TNS) COAS in UK to attend Regional Stabilisation Conference

ISLAMABAD (TNS) Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the United Kingdom, where he will attend the Seventh Regional Stabilisation Conference at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Asim Munir will deliver a keynote speech on “The Emerging Global Order and Pakistan’s Future.”

The conference, held annually, serves as a crucial platform for strengthening military ties between Pakistan and the UK.

It brings together civilian and military policymakers, as well as members of leading think tanks, to discuss pressing regional and global security challenges. Given the evolving geopolitical landscape, this year’s conference holds particular significance in fostering bilateral cooperation and exchanging strategic perspectives.

On the first day of his visit, General Munir was accorded a grand reception at the Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground, where he received a ceremonial guard of honour.

During his stay, the army chief is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with key British officials, including: Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, UK’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir Roland Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, Jonathan Nicholas Powell, UK’s National Security Adviser and Yvette Cooper, UK’s Home Secretary

Discussions will focus on shared security challenges and the need for closer cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan and the UK share a long-standing relationship, with strong ties in diplomatic, economic, and security domains. The two nations maintain close military cooperation, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism and professional training.

As part of his visit, General Asim Munir will also tour key British military units, including the Land Warfare Centre and the 1st Strike Brigade, where he will receive briefings on the UK military’s modernization efforts and operational strategies.

This visit underscores the deep-rooted strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UK and reaffirms their shared commitment to regional stability and global peace..
