Karachi, 21st February 2025 (TNS)– In a significant crackdown on illegal water connections, Pakistan Rangers Sindh (63 Wing) and the Anti-Theft Cell of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) conducted a joint operation at the TP-1 Treatment Plant boundary.
An 8-inch underground pipeline was inspected, and on-site testing confirmed it was supplying sweet water. A lab test further verified this, prompting an excavation to trace its source. The pipeline extended beyond the TP-1 Staff Colony, leading to an illegally constructed room over a drain outside the boundary. Inside, another concealed room was discovered, housing water storage tanks connected to multiple pipes and pumps for unauthorized water supply.
The KW&SC Anti-Theft Cell dismantled the entire illegal setup. Since no one claimed ownership or provided legal documents, the case was forwarded to the Pak Colony Police Station for legal action.
Seized Items and FIR Details:
Authorities confiscated high-powered pumps, pipes, generators, panel boards, water meters, and other illegal installations used for unauthorized water distribution. An FIR has been registered at Pak Colony Police Station, and all seized items have been handed over to the Anti-Theft Cell Office for further legal proceedings.
This successful operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb water theft and ensure legal water distribution in Karachi.
