Islamabad (TNS) The Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) organized a special event to celebrate World Sports Day in which the commitment to promote responsible sports reporting in Pakistan was reiterated.
The event held at a local hotel in Islamabad was attended by senior sports journalists, players, officials of various sports federations including the Pakistan Olympic Association, Islamabad Olympic Association.


During the event, eminent senior journalists were paid tribute for their services while young journalists were encouraged to adopt high journalistic values.
Rasja President Abubakar Bin Talat presided over the ceremony while Patron Abdul Mohi Shah and Chairman Shakeel Awan addressed the gathering and said that this day reminds us that sports journalists do not just cover competitions but also play an important role in promoting national pride, fair play and the Olympic spirit.


The highlight of the event was a special message from the Pakistan Olympic Association to pay tribute to sports journalists. POA President Arif Saeed and Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, in their messages, appreciated the services of sports journalists and said that on the occasion of World Sports Day, the Pakistan Olympic Association pays tribute to sports journalists from all over the world, especially the courageous journalists of Pakistan. They said that we are determined to work with sports journalists to create a sports environment that is ethical, inspiring and worthy of the pride of our young generation.


A cake was cut on the occasion while a discussion was also held on the challenges faced by sports journalism in the modern era and the role of social media.
