ISLAMABAD (TNS) SAARC meeting will be hosted by Pakistan whenever it is held, during the weekly briefing of Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, senior Pakistani journalist Asghar Ali Mubarak asked the question that as India is refusing to accept the role of the US as a mediator in reducing the Indo-Pakistan tension, and is saying that it will resolve its issues, including the Kashmir issue, bilaterally with Pakistan, will Pakistan use its secretariat to use the SAARC platform? In response, the spokesperson said that Pakistan has always wanted friendly relations with India, but we have repeatedly pointed out India’s rapid war preparations, Pakistan is ready to deal with any threat. The Foreign Office Spokesperson said that whenever the SAARC meeting is held in Pakistan, Pakistan will host it, we are ready for that, only one country is an obstacle in holding this meeting and that is India, we want the attention of the international community to India’s increasing militarization and military preparations. want to draw attention to it.
As far as SAARC is concerned, whenever the next summit is held, Pakistan will be the host. Interestingly, all SAARC members except one country are in favour of convening the summit. It is only one country that is blocking it, suffering from self-imposed isolation in the region and only they can comment on it. But the facts we can share with you are that most SAARC members support convening the summit. We are ready to host the summit. We are committed to SAARC, its objectives and its charter, and the country that blocks it can speak for itself. If they want to gain any benefit from being isolated in their own region, it is for them to explain. But Pakistan is committed to SAARC, and we are ready to host the summit whenever all the requirements are met.
