Islamabad (TNS):Chairman of Pyaas International Human Rights, Rana Imran Latif, has expressed deep concern over the growing number of drug addicts across the country and their deteriorating physical and mental condition. He emphasized that this issue is directly linked to human dignity, public health, and social security, and requires urgent national attention.
He stated:“In major cities including the federal capital Islamabad, drug addicts can be seen lying unconscious on streets, in parks, and on sidewalks. These individuals are not only deprived of life and dignity but have become a visible public hazard.”Calling the government to act urgently, Chairman Latif said:“These individuals are not merely offenders, but sick human beings in need of medical care and rehabilitation. As a state and society, it is our duty to provide them with the necessary treatment, establish rehabilitation centers, and ensure their social reintegration.”

Chairman Pyaas International proposed the following measures:
Expand and equip rehabilitation centers nationwide with modern medical facilities.From special rescue teams to relocate street addicts to treatment centers. Launch a comprehensive crackdown on drug dealers and smuggling networks through dedicated inter-provincial task forces.Engage media, educational institutions, and religious leaders in raising public awareness among the youth about the dangers of drug addiction.Chairman Latif further stated: “We urge the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Interior, anti-narcotics departments, and all provincial governments to treat this as a national human and social emergency and formulate a coordinated national strategy.”Pyaas International Human Rights reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate with all state institutions to help restore affected individuals to a safe, healthy, and dignified life.
