Islamabad (TNS)–The Health Alliance has strongly protested against the alleged irresponsible and inappropriate attitude of the Federal Health Minister, demanding his immediate resignation. In an emergency meeting of the Core Committee, it was decided that starting Monday, all government hospitals, dispensaries, and OPDs in Islamabad will remain completely closed, while the Polio campaign and other vaccination programs will also be boycotted.
The meeting, held in Islamabad, was presided over by Health Alliance Chairman Kaleemullah and President Qamar Gujar. Representatives from PIMS, Polyclinic, NIRM, NIH, FGSH, CDA, TB hospitals, and the DHO office participated. The participants demanded that the Prime Minister immediately remove the current Health Minister and appoint someone from the medical profession who fully understands the challenges of nursing and allied health professionals.
Speakers said that while the government spends billions of rupees annually on parliamentarians and the privileged class, frontline health workers have been continuously neglected for the past decade. According to them, rising inflation and discriminatory policies of the Ministry of Finance have left healthcare employees deeply disheartened.
It was also unanimously decided that if any retaliatory action is taken against employees during the protest, the Federal Health Alliance will defend its workers and demand the transfer of the concerned officer.
The Health Alliance made it clear that until the notification for the restoration of the health allowance is issued, OPDs, dispensaries, and vaccination centers in Islamabad’s government hospitals will remain shut, and neither polio campaigns nor the provision of records from the DHO office will be possible.
