ISLAMABAD (TNS) Prime Minister to leave for Egypt on October 13 to attend the signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Agreement The participation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan in this summit reflects Pakistan’s historic, consistent and unwavering support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and their just cause, as well as it represents Pakistan’s commitment to establishing lasting peace and stability in the region. The Sharm El-Sheikh summit is actually the result of diplomatic efforts that began on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York last month. The Prime Minister of Pakistan attended a high-level meeting with the US President on September 23, 2025, along with the heads of seven Arab and Islamic countries — Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Turkey — to discuss the prospects for peace in Gaza. These Arab and Islamic countries, through a joint statement, appreciated President Trump’s efforts to achieve peace and reiterated their commitment to work with the US to establish a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire and address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. Pakistan hopes that the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit will pave the way for a complete Israeli withdrawal, protection of Palestinian citizens, an end to their forced displacement, the release of prisoners, a resolution to the ongoing grave humanitarian crisis, and the reconstruction of Gaza. Pakistan also hopes that these efforts will contribute to a credible political process aimed at the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders, and in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Egypt today (October 13) at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and attend the signing ceremony of the peace agreement to end the grave situation in Gaza. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister and other senior ministers on this visit.
