Karachi (TNS) Karachi A delegation from the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh met today with Mr. Jamshed Alam Memon, Special Secretary of the Health Department, to discuss urgent reforms in the provincial healthcare sector.
The delegation included Dr. Mehboob Noonari (Chairman), Dr. Roshan Chandio (President), Dr. Mehran Khan Shar (Vice Chairman), and Dr. Ammar Danish (President YDA JPMC).
To mark the occasion, the YDA leadership presented a commemorative shield to the Special Secretary.
Core Agenda Items:
Security & Safety:
The delegation called for the immediate implementation of the Healthcare Security Bill to protect medical staff from workplace violence.
Financial Reforms:
A formal request was made for the revision of salaries and stipends for Medical Officers (MOs), Postgraduate Trainees (PGs), and House Officers (HOs) to reflect current economic conditions.
Health Insurance Cards:
The YDA proposed the introduction of health insurance cards to enable healthcare workers to access services at private hospitals safely and promptly.
Mr. Jamshed Alam Memon appreciated the YDA’s efforts and assured the delegation that the Health Department is actively working on the security bill and reviewing the financial proposals regarding salary adjustments. Both parties agreed to continue dialogue to ensure the swift resolution of these issues.
