ISLAMABAD (TNS) PIYASS International Islamabad is a reputable, non-profit, non-political, non-commercial and non-sectarian humanitarian organization established in 2005 under Registration No. CRRFA/ICT/02. For many years, PIYASS has consistently highlighted the alarming rise of organized begging in Pakistan and has repeatedly urged the concerned authorities to take meaningful action. Unfortunately, despite continuous appeals, the issue has been met with prolonged negligence, allowing organized begging networks to flourish and severely tarnish Pakistan’s image internationally.
Organized begging is no longer merely a social welfare concern. It has become a gateway to criminal activities including theft, pickpocketing, human trafficking, child exploitation, fraud and other forms of organized crime. Genuine charitable assistance is diverted away from deserving citizens while criminal networks continue to exploit vulnerable women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
PIYASS International respectfully calls upon the Government of Pakistan to hold the concerned departments accountable for their persistent failure to curb this growing menace. Immediate nationwide action is required to dismantle organized begging networks, strengthen law enforcement, rehabilitate deserving individuals through education, vocational training and employment opportunities, and restore Pakistan’s dignity and international reputation. This issue demands urgent and decisive intervention before further damage is caused to the nation’s image and social fabric.
