Karachi (TNS) KarachiThe Young Nurses Association (YNA) has strongly protested against the administration of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) over what it described as unfair decisions regarding the promotion and appointment of nurses to administrative positions. The Association termed these decisions a clear violation of seniority, merit, and service rules.
In a statement, the Association said that nurses who have served the institution with dedication, honesty, and professionalism for the past 30 to 35 years are being deprived of their legitimate opportunities for administrative positions solely because they are approaching retirement. According to the statement, such treatment is not only an insult to the long-standing services of senior nurses but also contradicts the fundamental principles of justice, merit, and seniority.
The Young Nurses Association maintained that if nearing retirement is being used as a criterion for denying administrative positions, then the same principle should be applied uniformly to all employees rather than targeting selected individuals through discriminatory practices.
The Association demanded that all appointments to administrative positions and promotions be made strictly in accordance with service rules, merit, and seniority, and that the affected employees be granted their lawful and legitimate rights without delay.
On the occasion, the Association also released the combined seniority list of Nursing Instructors and Nursing Superintendents (BPS-18), which includes the following senior officers:

Mrs./Ms. Tehmina Gul – Nursing Instructor (BPS-18)

Mrs./Ms. Shabana D/O Joseph – Nursing Instructor (BPS-18)
Mrs./Ms. Rubina Martina – Nursing Superintendent (BPS-18)
Mrs./Ms. Nasreen Gosal – Nursing Superintendent (BPS-18)
Mrs./Ms. Catherine D/O G. Mal – Nursing Instructor (BPS-18)
Mrs./Ms. Riffat Ghazala.
The statement further warned that if the allegedly unfair decisions are not withdrawn and the legitimate demands of the nurses are not accepted, the Young Nurses Association will announce its future course of protest, holding the JPMC administration fully responsible for the consequences.
