Islamabad (TNS) Police intensifies crackdown on drugs and illegal weapons; 589 accused arrested in August,According to the details, following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police has intensified operations against drug dealers and individuals involved in the illegal possession and display of weapons under the “Nasha! Ab Nahi” and “Weapon-Free Islamabad” campaigns.During the month of August, a total of 589 accused involved in drug dealing, illegal possession of weapons, and display of weapons were arrested.According to SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza, 222 drug dealers were arrested during an indiscriminate crackdown against narcotics peddlers in August. Police recovered more than 35 kilograms of ice, 17 kilograms of hashish, over 11 kilograms of heroin, and 2,765 bottles of liquor from the arrested accused.He further stated that 367 accused involved in the illegal possession and display of weapons were arrested during effective operations. Police recovered 304 pistols, 16 rifles/guns, 20 Kalashnikovs, and a large quantity of ammunition from their possession.SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said that targeted operations against drug dealers and individuals involved in the illegal possession of weapons are being conducted across the capital, while a zero-tolerance policy is being strictly enforced against such elements.He further stated that Islamabad Police is taking all possible measures to protect citizens from the threats posed by narcotics and illegal weapons. Protecting the lives and property of citizens, preventing crime, and maintaining law and order remain among the top priorities of Islamabad Police.
