National Minorities’ Day observed

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (TNS): President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in their separate messages on the occasion of Minorities Day observed on Friday reaffirmed the commitment to fulfill the promise made to minorities by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

President said: “On this day we reiterate the pledge made by our great leaders of according equal treatment to all our citizens irrespective of their religion, caste and creed.” “ The observance of Minorities Day reflects our commitment to integrate people of all faiths in the national life,” he added.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said we will make Pakistan a tolerant society where basic rights of every citizen are protected.

 He lauded the minorities’ contributions in social sector in general and health sector in particular.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in his message on the occasion of Minorities Day said: “Minorities are playing a vital role for the prosperity and the development of the country and they are enjoying complete religious and social freedom in the country.”

The Day is marked to acknowledge the services and contributions of minority communities in the progress and development of the country. Promotion of interfaith harmony, culture of tolerance and provision of equal rights for all minority communities as enshrined in the Constitution are some of the key objectives of this Day.
