ATC extends judicial remand of Sibtian Kazmi in Azam Tariq murder case

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (TNS): The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Sibtian Kazmi, prime suspect in former MNA Maulana Azam Tariq murder case till August 24.

During the proceedings, the family of Maulana Azam Tariq submitted application for pursuing their case through lawyer. The court accepted the application and adjourned the hearing till August 24.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Kazmi from the Islamabad Airport who was trying to flee to the United Kingdom via Doha on Qatar Airline.

Sibtain Kazmi was booked in murder case in Police Station Gholra and since then he was declared proclaimed offender and the government had announced Rs 1,000,000 bounty for his arrest.

Tariq, the then MNA, was gunned down along with three of his guards and  a driver in the limits of Islamabad’s Golra police in 2003, while returning from his constituency, Jhang, to attend a National Assembly session.
