ISLAMABAD Aug. 17 (TNS): The meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be held here today.
Party chairman Raja Zafarul Haq will preside over the meeting. Sources said that the meeting will approve the appointment of acting president of the party.
Senator Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir is tipped to be new president of PML-N. The meeting will approve his nomination as interim chief of the party.
They added that during the meeting the members of PML-N’s CEC will hold consultations over election of a permanent president.
The sources said that the meeting will also consider over calling a meeting of PML-N general council for election of a new president.
It is to be mentioned here that following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked PML-N to elect its new president as under Political Parties Order 2002 party head should be eligible to be member of the parliament.
