He added: “we have to change this philosophy; we have to challenge it and fight against it [Musharraf’s legacy].”

He added that in the past people used to forget the name of prime minister in two-month period after his ouster but this time the people of Pakistan reacted.

Pervaiz said he had sacrificed his post for safeguard of weak democracy in the country.

He claimed that he resigned during the Dawn Leaks controversy to save democracy in the country.

The PML-N Senator said that former dictator Pervez Musharraf was not sent abroad by the PML-N government; however, he admitted it couldn’t stop him from fleeing the country.

“Other institutions did not cooperate with us in stopping Musharraf from going abroad,” he said. “Musharraf, himself told that someone helped him to escape.”

The former information minister called Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, ‘ a pawn’ in Nawaz’s ouster.
