Islamabad, August 20 (TNS): Annoyed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday defended decisions taken by him in the past as country’s interior minister pertaining to national security, saying that he successfully shattered the network of terrorism.

Holding a press conference here on Sunday, Nisar said the critics had blamed the interior ministry for every failure and negligence.

“In 2013, there were bomb attacks after every four or five days… Now there is a marked reduction in such incidents,” he said adding that “There is no terrorist network in Pakistan now, and the security situation has remarkably improved.”

Nisar said more than 2000 diplomatic passports and more than 0.2 million licences for prohibited bore arms were cancelled during his tenure.

“No one can get the visa on airport now,” he said, claiming that “no terror network currently exists in Pakistan.”

About his differences with the party, Nisar said he parted his ways with PML-N due to difference of opinion.

“Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi tried to convince me till the last minute over my decision to resign, but I categorically refused owing to my differences and ultimately disassociated myself from the ministry. I clarified that I’m not aspirant of any office,” he explained.

“There was the difference and it still exists,” Nisar said.
