Rawalpindi, August 21 (TNS): Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the actual target of July 24 suicide attack near Arfa Karim IT Park in Lahore, said DG ISPR Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor on Monday.

“The real target of the suicide attack in Lahore at the Arfa Karim IT park was Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif,” Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor said, in a media briefing.

“According to our investigation, terrorists wanted to target Chief Minister of Punjab and after failing to do so, they targeted the police,” he said.

“The plan was changed at the very last moment,” Ghafoor told a press briefing in which he also shared the gains of Operation Khyber-IV with media men.

Maj Gen Asif also announced that the militant involved in perpetrating suicide attacks on prominent personalities, including Punjab Chief Minister, had been apprehended.

“Some of the terrorists were affiliated with the group of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadav”, he added.
