ISLAMABAD Aug 22 (TNS): The Guinness World Records title for the largest cookie mosaic has been recently broken in Pakistan with a mosaic made of over 150,000 cookies, all arranged in the shape of Pakistan’s flag.
The flag measured 226.51 square meters (2,438.15 sq. ft).
The previous largest cookie mosaic measured 187.04 square meters (2,013.28 ft²) and was achieved by Royal Academy Jordan in Amman on May 25 in 2016.
The cookie galore took place in Islamabad to celebrate 70 years of the country and was supervised by Guinness World Record’s officials, and even a health inspector to make sure that the process was as clean as possible. It was arranged by one of the leading biscuit brands of the country – Peak Freans.
The whole event had turned into a star studded affair. Apart from the 200 employees of the biscuit manufacturers, a number of celebrities including Shoaib Akthar, Adnan Siddiqui, Younus Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Hareem Farooq and Mira Sethi attended the record breaking event. They not only supported the efforts of the team and encouraged them throughout the event, but also took part in the creation of the new record.
With hard work and dedication, the flag mosaic was finally completed in six and a half hours.
As the Guinness World Records team announced the result, the contributors were finally rewarded with the confirmation that Pakistan had made it to the history books by bringing home a Guinness World Records title. After the completion of the mosaic, the cookies were distributed to notable charities across Pakistan.
