ISLAMABAD, Aug 23 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi left for Saudi Arabia Wednesday morning for a day-long visit.
The premier is accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif.
Sources said the premier will hold a meeting with Saudi leadership and also pay a visit to the resting place of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in Medina.
This is the first foreign visit of Abbasi, who was elected prime minister on August 1 after the earlier premier, Nawaz Sharif, was disqualified from holding public office by the Supreme Court in its landmark July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.
Sources said today’s visit to Saudi Arabia, a close ally of Pakistan, will feature discussions on US President Donald Trump’s new policy regarding Pakistan and bilateral relations. .
