PM abbasi, Saudi Crown Prince discuss array of issues

Jeddah, August 23 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi held a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman in Jeddah on Wednesday.

They discussed bilateral ties and regional situation, state-run radio reported.

Prime Minister Abbasi and Muhammad Bin Salman Al-Saud also discussed issues of emerging regional and global geo-strategic situation while reviewing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud is currently out of the Kingdom on a private visit.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif were also present in the meeting.

Earlier on his arrival at Jeddah airport, the Prime Minister was greeted by Deputy Governor of Makkah Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will offer prayers at Roza-e-Rasool (SAWW) during his day-long visit to Saudi Arabia.

Abbasi’s visit come a day after US President’s statement and intended to mobilise support in wake of Trump announced the new Afghan policy.

Abbasi has convened a meeting of the National Security Committee tomorrow [Thursday] to further deliberate on Trump’s remarks.

The Foreign Office, late Tuesday evening, expressed disappointment on Trump’s statements against Pakistan and advised Washington to work with Islamabad “instead of relying on the false narrative of safe havens”
