CCI under chairmanship on PM Abbasi discusses array of issues

Islamabad, August 25 (TNS): A meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) was held in Islamabad on Friday with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair, state media reported.

Provisional report of the 6th Population and Housing Census, carried out across the country from 15th March to 24th May this year, was presented to the Council of Common Interests.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Army, law enforcing agencies, Police, district administration and staff of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for completing the Census.

He also lauded the sacrifices of Shuhuda of Lahore blast and ten enumerators who lost their lives during the census operation.

The Prime Minister urged the PBS staff and the Ministry of Statistics to ensure early completion of final figures so that economic and social planning of the country can be brought to scientific footing.

Meanwhile, chairing a meeting of the National Task Force on Polio Eradication in Islamabad on Friday, the Prime Minister directed that even a single case of polio in the country should be taken seriously.

He said no effort should be spared to ensure complete eradication of the disease from the entire country.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stressed that routine immunization for polio should be further strengthened.
