COAS discusses security situation with Tajikistan President

RAWALPINDI Aug. 29 (TNS):  Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday met with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon to discuss regional peace and security situation.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS thanked him for supporting Pakistan s membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and for hosting the Quadrilateral Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism (QCCM) initiative.

In return, President Rahmon offered his sincere wishes for people of Pakistan. He appreciated the role of Pakistan Army and its people in the global fight against terrorism and restoration of peace.

They not only discussed the regional security issues but also converged on the mutual desire to spread peace in Afghanistan as well as in the entire region. Both leaders believed that the way to encourage effective security situation is by holding dialogue, joining hands for regional cooperation and supporting the Afghan-led or Afghan-owned initiatives.
