LAHORE Aug. 29 (TNS): Lahore High Court on Tuesday granted bail to MPA’s daughter booked for allegedly beating a teenage servant to death in Akbari gate area of the provincial capital.

The division bench comprising Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed and Tariq Iftikhar approved bail for accused Fauzia Islam against a surety bond of Rs100,000. Fauzia approached the high court challenging the order of a trial court that dismissed her bail plea.

Defending the applicant, her lawyer contended that false charges have been trumped up against her client. The victim had been ill for some time and thus, her client had taken him to a hospital for treatment but he died unfortunately, he added.

The counsel said Fauzia wanted to face charges in the trial, but declining her bail on the trumped-up charges was violation of her fundamental rights. He requested the judges to grant her bail.

Earlier, Lahore police had booked Fauzia, the daughter of MPA Shah Jehan associated with the ruling PML-N, for allegedly torturing teenage servant to death and also beating up his sister.

The victim’s siblings had been working at the residence of the woman lawmaker since long, the local police said.

Atiya, the victim of domestic violence, while narrating her ordeal said “the employer had subjected them to severe torture by beating them up with iron rods and wooden sticks.” “She was giving us meal only twice a day,” the child added.

The victims’ father said if the employer had any problem with his children, she should have consulted him
