Key terror commander apprehended in Karachi

Karachi, August 31 (TNS): A key commander of banned terror outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Swat has been arrested during an operation in West Zone area of Karachi.

According to officials, terrorists’ commander, Khursheed Alam, was involved in several heinous crimes including two murders and a large number of extortion activities.

During the raid, police seized a Kalashnikov and a hand grenade from his possession.

Official said the culprit had got training from Afghanistan and came to Karachi where he joined Ameer Akhtar Group and strengthened his network in the city.

The following year, several terrorist activities were carried out in the city in which 17 policemen including a SHO were killed. The new group took responsibility of all those terrorist acts.

SP Counter Terrorism Department Raja Umer Khattab had expressed fear that the banned terror outfits were being reorganized in the city.
