Lahore, Sept 06 (TNS): Rangers will be deployed at polling stations for the heavily anticipated NA-120 by-election in Lahore, polls authority said.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) made the announcement via notification on Wednesday.

The voting is scheduled to take place on 17th September.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Dr. Yasmeen Rashid and Faisal Mir of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are expected to put up a strong contest in the elections.

The candidates submitted their nomination papers from 10th to 12th August and the scrutiny took place from 15th to 17th August.

It should be noted that the seat of NA-120 Lahore constituency fell vacant after Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) disqualified Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister in Panama Case.

The election commission had issued notification of his de-seating shortly after his disqualification.
