Al-Qaeda, TTP, religious groups were involved in BB murder: says Malik

Islamabad, Sept. 7 (TNS): Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik revealed that Al-Qaeda, TTP, LeJ, S-e-S and other terror outfits and extremist religious groups were involved in Benazir Bhutto murder.

Malik said that Benazir Bhutto was target of rightist forces working inside and outside the country who were against the liberal policies of People’s Party and its leadership.

“General Zia came into power and had only one agenda that PPP and its leadership should be destroyed by introducing Islamic reforms in the country and grabbing support of religious parties”, Malik said.

Malik said Ziaul Haq’s legacy had been taken by Jihadi groups, terror outfits as well as rightist political parties including Nawaz Sharif’s Muslim League.

The Senator said as FIA official he had interrogated many extremists including Yousaf Ramzi who revealed that they hated Benazir Bhutto for being a women leader, a Shia and for her liberal views.

“I would like to say that when I was Director FIA, investigating the case of attempt of Bhutto’s assassination, and during the investigation, I came to know that Al Qaeda was involved in first attempt to take Benazir Bhutto’s life, one arrested suspect told me that Al Qaeda’s leadership was against Benazir Bhutto because she was a female and she has no right to rule over the Islamic country; she is a Shiite and a Western admirer”, Malik added.

He said, later on October 27, 2007 incident, a JIT investigation showed how religious militants have been against Ms. Benazir Bhutto’s personality.

“I had investigated Yousuf Ramzi, who described it factual saying it is true that “we want to end Benazir Bhutto”, Malik said adding that “It is important to mention that Ms. Benazir Bhutto was the target of al-Qaeda and its affiliated organizations before the last horrible incident”.

PPP Senator said Yousuf Ramzi had revealed that the first assassination attempt on Benazir Bhutto was carried out near 995 Bilawal House as the Frontier Police, arrested Fazlullah Hamdi from the house of Abu Talha, at Panjgur, Balochistan.

Captain Abdul Hakim and others planned to kill Ms. Benazir Bhutto before the election of 1993.

According to the plan, the plan was to install a bomb in Gutter near Bilawal House.

However, it could not be implemented because Yousuf Ramzi was injured in his flat in Karachi while making a bomb.

Another attempt to assassinate BB was made in 1993. After this, , Abdul Shukur, who was a close aide of Yusuf Ramzi, was arrested by the police in Peshawar as he was going to Karachi with weapons on the train.

“Ramzi Yusuf, Captain Abdul Hakim, Munir Ibrahim and Osama bin Laden had given a lot of money to religious parties for this purpose”, according to Abdul Shukur.

Munir Ibrahim used to pay money on behalf of Osama bin Laden. The third attempt to kill Benazir Bhutto was held in October 18, 2007 when he back to Karachi to lead the party in the general elections. Two deadly blast occurred near BB truck which left hundreds PPP supporters dead but Benazir was survived in that attack too.

This attack was a continuation attempt of Baitullah Mehsud’s threats.

Rehman Malik said that TTP chief and Al Qaeda found involved in planning and implementing murder of Ms. Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi.

This was followed by terrorist group planned attck on December 26, 2007 in Arbanab Niaz Stadium Peshawar which was foiled.

After failing several attempts, terrorists eventually succeeded to kill Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007. In a highly integrated and organized manner three bullets were fired, and then suicide bombs were carried out near Benazir Bhutto’s vehicle, as a result she died.

In attack, 23 party workers were killed and 70 injured.

Malik said that investigations by the FIA ​​revealed that this conspiracy was made by five former students of Madrasah Haqqani Aurora Khattak, Nadir, Qari Ismail, Nasirullah, Abdul Saddam and Faiz Mohammad. The amount of money and suicide bomber were provided by Baitullah Mehsud.

PPP leader said that culprits who plotted the attack have been killed in drone attacks and forces actions in tribal areas.

Malik said that the above events are clear evidence that Al-Qaeda, TTP, their affiliates and other extremist religious groups were involved in the cold-blooded murder of former Prime Minister.
