Rawalpindi, Sept. 7 (TNS): A death row inmate at the Adiala Jail committed suicide in wee hours of Thursday by hanging himself in his cell.
According to details, Muhammad Iqbal, who was convicted and sentenced to death, strangulated himself using Azarband in his cell at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
The condemned prisoner was admitted in the prison on 27/05/2005 on a judicial remand in case FIR NO. 291 dated 13/07/2005.
Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Rawalpindi Zafar Hussan Naqvi conducted detailed inquiry and ordered for post mortem.
According to initial inquiry, no marks of violence were found on his body.
Iqbal’s appeal was pending in Supreme Court since 2010.
DIG Prisons Shahid Saleem Baig also visited jail and conducted detailed inquiry in this regard. Body handed over to police for post mortum.
Brothers of deceased also reached jail and satisfied on judicial inquiry.

Muhammad Idress and Muhammad Afzal, real brothers of deceased, in a written affidavit confirmed that their brother has committed suicide.

They stated that, after examine the dead body of Iqbal, they found no damage to their brother’s body and they do not suspect anyone over his demise.
