6 shopkeepers held in Faisalabad for decanting gas illegally

FAISALABAD Sept. 9 (TNS): Police have arrested six shopkeepers on charges of illegal gas decanting from various parts of the city.

The police said that Mohammad Saeed was arrested from Chak No 225-RB, Qasim Maqsood from Mian Town, Ali Asghar and Sajjad from Kaleem Shaheed Colony and Ghulam Murtaza and Mohammad Shafiq from Chak No 39-GB while decanting gas illegally.

Separate cases were registered against them on the charge of running illegal business of decanting Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Meanwhile, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director-General Noorul Amin Mengal, during action against adulteration, sealed a factory for manufacturing fake and substandard ketchup in Jhang.

The team destroyed over 6,000 kilogrammes of poor quality ketchup that was seized from the factory located in a house near Mandi Morr. The ketchup was being prepared with chemicals and starch which was not fit for human consumption. The director general also checked eatable items in canteens of various schools in Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Faisalabad.
