Independence Cup: match referee Richie Richardson arrives in Lahore

LAHORE Sept 9 (TNS): The process of international players’ arrival in Pakistan has started as former West Indies captain Sir Richie Richardson has reached Lahore today (Saturday) to perform duty of referee in Independence Cup.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also announced national officials for the event according to which Aleem Dar, Shozab Raza, Ahmad Shahab and Ahsan Raza will be umpires.

Reportedly, other international players have also started reaching Dubai from where they will depart for Pakistan on Monday.

Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting and West Indies’s Darren Sammy will hold media conference today while South Africa’s Hashim Amla and New Zealand’s Grant Elliott will share their views on Sunday.

Sources told that World XI will also do practice in Dubai.

Independence Cup will be held from September 12 to September 15 between Pakistan and World XI at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

For this purpose, strict security arrangements have been ensured.
