OIC meeting on Science, Technology kicks off in Astana

ASTANA Sept 10 (TNS):  The first Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperations (OIC) on Sience and Technology started in Astana, Kazakhstan on Sunday.

Missions from about 80 countries and several international organizations, and many scientific and cultural figures are participating in the meeting, during which some of the heads of governments, including Iran, Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, and Guinea will give speeches.

The secretary-generals of the OIC and head of UNESCO are scheduled to deliver speechs.

Investigating the relations between science and technology and the Islamic countries’ stand, as well as finding a way for wider expansion of ties among the member countries in the related fields have been announced as the goals of the meeting.

Massacre of Rohingya Muslims, which has been accompanied by the supportive silence of Myanmar’s officials, is another issue to deal with.
