Islamabad, Sept 11 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has called for evolving a mechanism for providing drugs to the poor at affordable prices and to keep the pharmaceutical sector commercially viable.
He was talking to a delegation of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association in Islamabad on Monday.
The delegation assured the prime minister that an essential drug pricing policy will be announced soon.

The Prime Minister instructed the Drug Regulatory Authority to make effective policies in this regard.
The Prime Minister also directed to consider a proposal to establish a Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council to facilitate exports and securing international recognition for Pakistani pharmaceutical products.
