ISLAMABAD: Sept 12 (TNS): At least fourteen people, four children among them, were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a passenger van and trailer on the motorway near Chakri Interchange on Tuesday.
According to a motorway police spokesperson, the ill-fated van was travelling from Jhang to Rawalpindi when it met accident near the Chakri Interchange, leaving fourteen people dead and seven others critically injured.
He said the rescue workers and motorway police arrived immediately at the spot following the accident and shifted the dead and injured to a nearby hospital. Some of the injured are stated to be in precarious condition, he added.
As a result of the crash between two vehicles, the van caught fire which led to more casualties, he explained, adding that those with burn injuries have been rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital, Islamabad for medical aid.
