ISLAMABAD Sept 13 (TNS): Non-reply of members’ questions by Ministries of Defence and Human Rights angered Speaker National Assembly who adjourned National Assembly session for 15 minutes in protest.

The absence of Secretary of Ministry of Human Rights from the session also invited the Speaker’s ire, who issued directives for Secretary to show up in the house within five minutes.

The Speaker ruled that the Secretary would have not the permission to have his seat in the house, rather he would be standing besides his seat in the Assembly.

Earlier, the National Assembly session resumed here with Speaker Sardar Ayanz Sadiq in the chair.

During the Question Hour, it emerged that the Defence Ministry had not submitted replies to questions of members relating to the Ministry.

This angered the Speaker, who asked Law Minister Zahid Hamid to go to the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Defence to ascertain the reasons for non-reply.

PPP MNA Syed Naveed Qamar proposed that the session should be adjourned for 15 minutes.

The Speaker summoned Defence Minister and Secretary of the Ministry to immediately rush to the house.

Speaker remarked that the ministry did not respond the questions for the last three session. The Speakers while addressing the members remarked that he would not held the entire members (MNAs) hostage due to the inapt officials who did not reply the questions.

When the questions relating to Ministry of Human Rights were taken up, it turned out that the Ministry too had not submitted replies to the members’ questions.

This proved to be the fuel to the fire, as the visibly irritated Speaker summoned Secretary of the Ministry.

A section officer of the Ministry was present in the house, however the Speaker ordered him to leave the house immediately.  Sadiq ordered that Secretary Ministry of Human Rights should show up within five minutes.
