ISLAMABAD, Sep15 (TNS): An important meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Zulfiqar Haider was held here on Thursday to review the performances of various departments working under the local administration of federal government.
While reviewing the performance of the cooperative department it was told that annual meetings of 27 societies were held last year with elections of same number of societies conducted.
The participants were apprised that annual audit of 41 societies and a special audit of 4 societies has been completed during which the corruption of Rs.5 billion has surfaced. Rs100 million and 236 kanal of land worth of Rs.2 billion has been recovered. The registration of seven societies has been canceled due to being inactive while as 180 cases have been cleared and the possession of 530 given to members.
The meeting was apprised that Food department has conducted 10236 inspections and registered 216 FIR’s on the charges of violation of food laws besides recovering the amount of Rs.7234500 as fine. Health department has provided free treatment to 353900 patients. The department of labor and industries has fined 15103 shops and work places of the worth of Rs 2000000. 12 thousand workers were ensured to receive the declared minimum wages beside the decisions of 31 cases of child labor made. 720 firms and 13 NGOs were registered while as the registration of 471 defunct NGO registration canceled.
27 projects of the departments of irrigation and livestock have been installed with the completion of 20 wells and 20 bore boards completed, 250000 trees have been distributed with drip irrigation system installed. Apart from this, 250 acres of land has been made cultivatable and 328039 animals treated by livestock department.
The record of 35 revenue states has been computerized in the department of Deputy Commissioner/Revenue. 32072 Domicile certificates beside 7871 International driving and 2800 arms have been issued with ease in various sections. Department of Excise has acquired the revenue Rs285 million. The issuance of computerized Number Plates, establishment of facilitation and arrangement of one window service also were the points the meeting has been apprised about.
