ISLAMABAD Sept. 15 (TNS): Pakistan on Friday expressed concern over Guardian drones deal between India and US. Pakistan said that this deal between the two nations would result in strategic imbalance in the region.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan, spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said that Narendra Modi’s visit to US in June led to the finalisation of 22 Guardian drones deal which will lead to imbalance in the region.
“We had expressed our concerns on the sale of advanced military technologies to India. We believe that such sales accentuate military imbalances in the region and undermine strategic stability in South Asia”, Mr Zakaria was quoted as saying.
After Modi’s visit to America in June US cleared the sale of 22 predator drones to India in a deal estimated to be worth $ 2 to 3 billion.
