ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (TNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer on Monday submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) details of party’s foreign funding during the last seven years.

Headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza, a bench of ECP was seized with the hearing of the petition pertaining to PTI’s foreign funding.

Disgruntled PTI member Akbar S Babar had taken his party to the ECP for receiving funds from prohibited sources.

PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry submitted details of the party’s foreign funds spanning seven years from 2010 to 2017.

He informed the bench that Islamabad High Court during the party’s petition with regard to the foreign funding had ruled that ECP shall not disclose such details to any individual, including Babar.

Speaking to media Babar said documents submitted by the party are incomplete and fake. The same documents were produced before the Supreme Court earlier, he added.

Commenting on yesterday’s NA-120 by-election in Lahore, Babar said the nation has denounced “fake slogan” of change and voted for the right.

PTI had earlier approached IHC seeking a stay order against the proceedings pending with the ECP in the party’s foreign funds case.

The ECP had also dismissed the PTI request to grant a stay in the proceedings and directed it to submit details of party funds, arguing that it had jurisdiction to question the sources of party funds.

The commission had last week issued bailable arrest warrants for Imran Khan after his failure to show up for the contempt of court proceedings. Babar had filed petition against PTI chief for accusing the commission of being biased in the foreign funds case.
