Rawalpindi, Sept 18 (TNS): A group of parliamentarians and the chief of army staff reiterated their resolve to purge the country of extremism through a synergetic, whole-of-the-nation approach based on the principle of “collective potential and shared responsibility”, a statement issued by the military’s media wing said.
The development came during a meeting of a visiting delegation comprising members of Defence Committees of the Senate and National Assembly with Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the parliamentary members were given a detailed briefing on evolving security environment including situation on borders and Pakistan’s Army efforts for peace and security.
The delegation, led by Senator Lt-Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum, also laid wreath at the Shuhada Monument.
