Presentations on Social Action Project held at FJWU

Rawalpindi, Oct 3 (TNS): Women Research and Resource Center (WRRC) organized British Council Citizenship Education and Community Engagement Program- Active Citizenship (General Education) Course with the collaboration of British Council Social Action Project.

The objective of this project is to bring about social change that will benefit an individual, communities or society. As part of the Active Citizens training program, participants develop the skills and knowledge to help them plan and implement a social action project. They work together to deliver action that enhances community life. The project should be principled, well-planned and make use of local–global links. Projects engage with issues such as access to political participation, the environment, climate change, community cohesion, livelihoods and literacy.

Chief Guest Acting Vice chancellor/ Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Naheed Zia Khan gave a warm welcome to the guests Jo Beall (Director Education and Society, British Council), Sadia Rehman (Director society, British Council ) and Zenia Faraz ( British Council).She said that we introduce this course in our university but we want to institute this as well. She requests the British Council to train faculty for instituting this course.

Jo Beall (Director Education and Society, British Council) gave a key note and appreciate the Fatima Jinnah Women University students for their impressive projects. Ms Sadia Rehman (Director Society, British Council) thanked Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Naheed Zia Khan, faculty, staff and students for presentation.
