ISLAMABAD Oct 6 (TNS): “No deadlock between the government and the opposition on the appointment of the new chairman NAB”, says opposition leader, Khursheed Shah in the National Assembly.

Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah met with the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, in Islamabad, consulting on the appointment of the new chairman NAB.

After the meeting, Khursheed Shah told the media that he showed the names of the candidates suggested by PTI and MQM to the Prime Minister. The meeting was held in a pleasant environment. There was no deadlock between the government and the opposition on this matter. Hopefully there will be a consensus on a name in a couple of meetings resulting in the appointment of the new Chairman NAB.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has dismissed the proposed names for the next Chairman NAB, by the government and opposition leader, Khursheed Shah. Vice-Chairman PTI, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has alleged that Muslim League (N) and PPP have already conspired in terms of Chairman NAB’s appointment.

The current chairman NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhary’s 4-year job term will expire in a few days. The names presented by the government include Justice (Retd) Rahmat Jafri, Justice (Retd) Choudhary Ejaz and DGIB Aftab Sultan, while the opposition has suggested the names of Justice (Retd) Faqeer Mohammad Khokhar, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal and former secretary, Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan.
