PM inaugurates Kandh Kot gas field expansion project in Sindh

ISLAMABAD Oct 8 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi has inaugurated Kandh Kot gas field expansion project in Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that local population will be provided job opportunities in new projects in the area.

The additional gas to be generated from the project will be used for power generation particularly in Guddu Power project.

Kandhkot gas field, discovered in 1959, came into the system in 1983. Latest technology is being used to get additional gas from the project.

Addressing a function of Pakistan Petroleum Limited in Kandhkot, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Pakistan Petroleum Limited had achieved tremendous goals during the last four years.

The PM expressed hope that PPL would complete all the projects in due time frame.

He said PPL was discovering new gas resources which would benefit Balochistan.

On the occasion, Managing Director of PPL Syed Wamik Shah Bukhari briefed the prime minister about the achievements of PPL.

He apprised the premier that PPL Kandhkot has drilled six wells and rebottled the re-generation capacity of plant 144 mmscf to 230 mmscf. He said PPL was working for the welfare of people of Kandhkot and established 400 schools in Kandhkot.

Earlier, addressing a public gathering at Nawan Jatoi in Naushero Feroze Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the country could not move forward on the path of development without democracy.

He said former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif had signed Charter of Democracy in 2006 with the aim to respect the mandate of the people and bury the politics of hatred.

He said the Pakistan Peoples Party would have to give serious consideration to the principles agreed between the two parties.

Referring to the 28th July judgment of the Supreme Court in Panama Leaks case against Nawaz Sharif, the prime minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-N accepted and implemented the judgment.

Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said the PML-N was working for development of the entire country.

He said the people would decide the future of all political parties in the next general elections on the basis of their performance.

About the issue of unemployment, he said we have increased the GDP growth rate to six percent which will definitely help the youth get jobs.

Shahid Khaqan Abbassi that the multi-billion dollar China- Pakistan Economic Corridor project is a project for the development of the country, which will provide jobs to the youth. He said a network of motorways and highways is being spread in order to improve connectivity.

He said that the federal government has also provided funds for completion of development projects in Sindh which were facing delays over the last fifteen years. In Balochistan Kachi Canal project has been completed at a cost of twenty eight billion rupees.

Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said that several projects have been launched in the power sector which will meet future requirements of the country.

On the security situation, he said that law and order situation has improved in Karachi due to efforts of the security forces.
