ISLAMABAD Oct 10 (TNS): Responding to a calling attention, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad told National Assembly on Tuesday that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is carrying out investigation into the matter of use of a PIA plane in a film made in Malta wherein the struggle of Palestinians was negatively portrayed.

He informed the House that the PIA Airbus A 310 was rented out to a British film making company for which the national flag carrier received over twenty million rupees.

The Chair directed FIA to present its report within a month before the relevant standing committee.

He said that Pakistan has always supported the Palestinian cause and this incident has embarrassed us.

He said the matter should be examined in a holistic manner whether the agreement signed with the British company envisaged the purpose and details of the film for which the plane will be used.

He said strict action should be taken against the officials found involved in the negligence.

Responding to a calling attention in the National Assembly today the Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said a new law will be enacted soon to declare over billing a crime.

He acknowledged that there are major inefficiencies in the power distribution companies which need to be addressed.

He said that overbilling and power pilferage are one of the major issues in the power sector and these will be tackled to provide relief to the consumers.

The Minister said that over the last four years, the government focused on enhancing power generation capacity as a result of which power outages have been reduced to a great extent.

He said that in the next few months, power supply will exceed the demand.

The House today passed The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

The bill was moved by Kishwer Zehra.

The House today passed a resolution urging the government to take steps to deal with the propaganda against Balochistan wisely and vigorously at international fora.

In another resolution, the government was urged to take immediate steps to establish Baba Guru Nanak Sahib International University at Nankana Sahib.

In yet another resolution, the National Assembly called upon the government to take measures to reduce indirect taxation in the country.

The House has now been adjourned to meet again tomorrow morning at ten thirty.
