KARACHI: Oct 11 (TNS): Police arrested seven miscreants from various localities of the city in a crackdown against unscrupulous elements on Tuesday night.

These arrests were made in Surjani Town, Manghopir, and Baldia Town neighbourhoods of the metropolis.

According to police, four suspects were detained in a targeted raid at Baldia Town’s Makka Colony. A stolen motorcycle and weapon were recovered from the possession of the miscreants; a police investigation has been underway to make arrests of other accomplices at large, police informed.

In a separate raid at Surjani Town, police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender – Kashif – involved in various robbery cases. A pistol and narcotics have also been recovered from his possession, officials said.

Meantime, police busted two people for smuggling oil in Manghopir area of the city, seizing a tanker which was containing 30,000 litres of diesel.

In another incident, a security guard was killed on Tuesday night when armed assailants opened fire at him outside a marriage hall located in Shrah-e-Faisal.

The incident could be a result of an apparent old enmity case, police reckoned in light of initial investigation after inspecting the crime scene.

No additional details could be ascertained with regard to identifications of the victim and armed assailants.
